The Proclamation Behind the Standard

Christ Is King.

Not a slogan. Not a sentiment. A proclamation that has outlasted every empire that has ever tried to silence it.

The title has roots that run from the Davidic kings of the Old Testament through the Incarnation itself. God used the kings of Israel as the place where His promises would be fulfilled and when those kings failed, His promises did not. He said He would give a king from the Davidic line who would fulfill every promise. That king is Jesus Christ.

When Pilate nailed the charge above the cross — This is the King of the Jews — he meant it as a mockery. He documented a coronation.

The world has been arguing with that sign ever since.

In 1925, as nationalism and secularism were remaking the world in their own image, as governments demanded total allegiance and ideologies crowned themselves, Pope Pius XI responded with a feast day and a title that admitted no competition. The Solemnity of Christ the King was not a devotional addition to the calendar. It was a doctrinal declaration. A line drawn in public. A reminder that no state, no ideology, and no age holds final authority over the human soul.  This continues to resonate today.

He is King. Not one king among many. King — singular, sovereign, and without end.

Today there is a temptation to love Jesus in private while shrinking from acknowledging His kingship in public life. This shirt refuses that compartment.
